4-Point Play Inc.

4-Point Play Inc. is a separate entity from Portland Energy Basketball. 4-Point Play inc. is a non-Profit organization, which provides communities with sports programs and local events.  Our Mission is to offer compatible solutions for individuals and families with aspirations to live healthy.  4-Point Play Inc. has partnered with Schools Uniting Neighborhoods (S.U.N) at Ockley Green, Whitaker, and Tubman Middle Schools by providing seven coaches in three different sports (basketball, soccer, and volleyball). We completed our first youth spring basketball league in (2005) at Tubman Middle School and Bally Total Fitness.  We were also community partners of the Blazer Street Jam and plan on continuing this partnership.  We aspire to increase youth health education standards though sports activities, while stressing the importance of health and fitness. Our priority population is youth (ages 12-17) in the Portland/Metro Area.  We strive to offer free or inexpensive sports programs while including health education activities to these youth. The demographic we serve would not be able to participate in physical activities otherwise. We are seeking your support to help combat obesity within the local communities of Oregon.

According to CDC the prevalence of obesity in the United States is high, exceeding30% in most age and gender groups. Obesity related medical costs have totaled around $75 billion nationwide. In Oregon 6 out of 10 adults are overweight or obese, costing an estimated 781 million in medical costs.  It is projected over 24.5% of eighth graders are overweight or at risk for being overweight according in Oregon.  The lack of physical activity, poor nutrition and increased media consumption contribute to emerging health issues for our children, such as high cholesterol and high blood pressure, diabetes, gall bladder disease and sleep apnea.Your participation and contribution to our organization will be used towards educational and sports specific fitness programs, which will help lower health care cost across the state.

There are several benefits to sponsor 4-Point play activities:

Position your organization with an attractive demographic: 90% of players involved in basketball programs will attend or graduate a 4-year college. Our youth athletes are between the ages of 12-18 and spend an average of $1,500 per year on sporting goods.  Our amateur athletes are between the ages of 18-35 and spend an average of $700 a year on sporting goods.

Sponsor a Women’s Semi Pro Team

The Portland Energy is a new Women’s Semi-Pro team in conjunction with the International Basketball League (IBL).  All of our games will be played before the IBL games with attendance up to 4,000 people. Our players are camp directors and help organize our events as well as travel the nation to play against other top level teams.

Sponsor Youth Basketball Camps

All of our youth basketball camps will be free to the public. Our organization is managing a summer basketball camp for the duration of 5 days.  The hours of this camp will be from 9am to 5pm every day with a 1 hour lunch break from 12pm to 1pm.  The objective of this camp is to provide kids with a positive summer activity and have them learn how to take care of their bodies through nutritional guidelines, basketball drills, games, and other fitness activities.  This camp will provide a week of comprehensive health education as well as basketball basics to improve not only their physical health, but also their skill level.  The overall goal of this camp is to have kids gain new methods of taking care of their bodies.

Our board members are highly qualified and engaged in community activities
